Cultural historical walk in the center of the Sognefjord.
Experience an authentic, vibrant Norwegian town community with wooden house architecture, historical buildings, and monuments from the Viking Age in picturesque surroundings.
A trip starts from the Strandkai terminal in Bergen, along the coast of Nordhordland and into the world's longest fjord, Sognefjord. In the center of Sognefjord, you arrive at the idyllic Vik in Sogn, where you will be met by our guide who will tell you about the charming coastal environment where you find small wooden houses, boathouses, and other wooden structures. Further up in the center, you will get to taste Gamalost, the cheese with a thousand-year-old heritage that is made here in Vik.
After the tasting, one continues upward in a vibrant cultural landscape with green hills, surrounded by mountains and nature. There, one will visit Hopperstad Stave Church and Hove Stone Church, both from the 1100s, as well as the Mohaugane and Brødehaugane burial mounds from prehistoric times.
This is a unique trip in a fantastic village and will give you a memorable experience for life.
Korleis vert turen gjennomført
Turen starte på Strandkaiterminalen i Bergen, 8:00(møt opp i god tid), der ein tek hurtigbåt oppover kysten av Norhordaland og inn Sognfjorden. På vegen vil ein blant anna køyre gjennom Alverstraumen og Noregs vestlegaste fastlandskommune Austreheim, før ein kjem til det som er Sogn og Fjordane og første kommune Gulen der hurtigbåten gjer ein kort stopp i Skjerjehamn.
Vidare, innover Sognefjorden vil ein køyre forbi kommunane Hyllestad og Høyanger, før ein kjem til Vik kommune. Eit stykke inn i Vik kommune kjem ein til Vikøyri, der vår tur vert gjennomført.
Når ein kjem til Vikøyri stoppar hurtigbåten ved Vik kai, der vår guide vil møte deg og ditt reisefølgje.
Me starte turen på sjølve Vikøyri der me vil fortelje om Sognefjorden og strandsittjarstaden Vikøyri med små og naust. Vidare tek me ein smaksprøve av Gamalost og Bringebærjuice. Vidare går me oppover i bygda og besøkjer blant anna Hopperstad Stavkyrkje, Moahaugane gravhaugar og Hove Steinkyrkje. Turen inkluderer inngang i kyrkjene.
Når den guida turen er gjennomført får du 2 rettar middag på Blix Hotell og du får moglegheit til å gå litt rundt i bygda på eiga hand.
Retur frå Vik, tilbake til Bergen går 17:10, men møt opp 17:00.

All our tours and events start at Vikøyri or Vik Tourist Information. It is possible to book the tour as a round trip starting from the Strandkai terminal in Bergen, or one can come to Vik on their own.
If one wishes to travel to Vik in other ways than by fast boat, the alternatives are:
Car
Traveling by car provides a high degree of flexibility and the opportunity to stop along the way. The usual route goes via Voss and over Vikafjellet. The trip normally takes between 3 and 3.5 hours, depending on traffic and weather conditions. In winter, the mountain pass may be delayed, and it is recommended to check traffic reports before departure. One can check traffic reports via vegvesen.no and/or vikjavev.no
Train and bus
It is possible to travel by train and bus from Bergen to Vik, usually with one or more transfers, recommended via Voss if traveling directly from Bergen. The travel time is typically between 3 and 5 hours, including waiting time, etc. The bus is an environmentally friendly and affordable option for travelers without a car.
