Experience Vik through history

Join us on a walk through historical surroundings. We stroll between small picturesque houses and boathouses that make up the charming coastal environment in Vikøyri. We visit one of the small houses that still stands exactly as it was left in the old days.

The tour includes a tasting of gamalost. Gamalost has its roots in the Viking Age. The local dairy is today the only dairy in the country that produces this unique, traditional cheese. Along with the cheese, you will be served raspberry juice from Vik. In Vik municipality, about 25% of all raspberries for consumption in Norway are produced.

One will also visit the museum in Vik, which is at Kristianhus. Here, one can experience traditional wooden boats and the largest collection of motors that a person has gathered in Norway. Boats and motors were an important part of daily life for those who lived along the Sognefjord during the 20th century; this is a unique and special collection, beyond the ordinary.
